SIMON MINUK Rather than mourn the absence of the flame, Let us Celebrate how brightly it shone. Dad was a quiet, hard working man who loved his family. Words that we all aspire to. He was tolerant, respectful, and embraced laughter. He was a good man. Dad was born in 1918 in Bateman, SK to Benjamin Minuk and Nasha Schepavolov. It was a large family with Dad being the last to go. We are blessed for Aunt Fannie (Marantz) who holds a special place in our hearts and who is so dear to Dad and our family. Florence and Simon were married on November 17, 1956. It was 49 years to that day that Dad passed away. Mom and Dad loved one another completely and by example we were raised with gentleness, pride and instilled with the responsibilities and joys of family. In the last days the family spent with Dad we are only left fulfilled by the endless stories and laughter that mingled with the tears. To know Dad meant that you were not immune to his sharp wit, old jokes, and smart comments. Just ask Jackie... Who? His friends and neighbours will remember him with a smile. Dad insisted upon homemade soups, dinner on time, an audience for his stories, and no service when he died. We do wish to thank the nursing staff on 4 South and Dr. Milner for their care for Dad and our family. And for so many years and through so many problems, we thank Dr. Gooi for the exceptional compassion and attention he always gave Dad. Mom, Lisa and grandson Shimon, Neil and Kristy and grandchildren Nate and June are left stronger and gentler souls. To live in the hearts we leave behind is not to die. Shalom Grampa.
